The Inspiring Journey of Sekolah Kristen Tabgha Batam

A Vision Rooted in Faith (2007-2008)

The journey of Sekolah Kristen Tabgha began with the establishment of Yayasan Komunitas Kasih Indonesia in 2007, founded to serve as a beacon of Christian education, faith, and transformation. This foundation paved the way for a school to nurture students in wisdom, character, and spiritual growth, equipping them to become future leaders who walk in God’s purpose.

Guided by this vision, Pdt. Dr. Hanny Andries, Gembala GBI Gedung Tabgha Rayon X, responded to God’s calling—to build a Christian school that would shape young hearts and minds in the knowledge and fear of the Lord.

A Humble Beginning (2008)

On July 14, 2008, with faith as its foundation, the first academic year of Sekolah Kristen Tabgha began with the opening of TK EXCELLENT HOLY KIDS. With 30 students and 8 dedicated teachers, the classes were held within GBI Gedung Tabgha, where learning was deeply integrated with Christian values.

Expanding in Faith (2009-2011)

By July 21, 2009, the school expanded by opening SD Kristen Tabgha, initially serving grades 1 to 3. Despite facing challenges, the school operated from six rented shophouses in Komplek Centre Park, Batam Centre, ensuring that students received a strong academic and spiritual foundation.

In July 2011, a major milestone was reached as SD Kristen Tabgha moved into its own school building—a repurposed marketplace in Centre Park, right next to GBI Gedung Tabgha. This transition symbolized faith in action, perseverance, and divine provision.

Growth and New Horizons (2012-2015)

The vision of holistic Christian education continued to unfold. In July 2012, SMP Kristen Tabgha was established with 14 students, marking another step forward in building a Christ-centered learning community.

In 2015, SMA Cerdas Mandiri was founded, beginning with just one student—a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to providing education that transforms lives, no matter the challenges.

A Unified Identity: One Name, One Mission (2022)

To strengthen its identity and mission, in 2022, SMA Cerdas Mandiri officially changed its name to SMA Kristen Tabgha. This change unified all educational levels—TK, SD, SMP, and SMA—under the same name, reflecting one vision, one mission, and one strong Christian foundation.

Commitment to Excellence: A - Accreditation Rank

From the beginning, Sekolah Kristen Tabgha has remained steadfast in its commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth. By God’s grace, the dedication of teachers, and the trust of parents, the school has maintained high educational standards and achieved the prestigious A accreditation rank—a testament to its unwavering pursuit of excellence in education and character development.

God’s Faithfulness in Growth (2016 and Beyond)

By 2016, the school had grown to 864 students, a powerful reminder of God’s abundant blessings and the impact of faith-driven education. With each passing year, Sekolah Kristen Tabgha Batam continues to shape smart, excellent, and faithful students, preparing them to become light and salt in the world.

As we look ahead, we hold firm to our mission—to nurture future leaders with wisdom, integrity, and faith, equipping them to transform society for God’s glory.
